Terms and Conditions

Wagg-On Dog Grooming offers a free, initial consultation for all new clients. During this consultation, clients will be asked to provide contact details and information about their pet and vet.  The information you provide to Wagg-On Dog Grooming will be held in accordance with the Data Protection Act 2006.

PLEASE NOTE: During this consultation, you must inform Wagg-On Dog Grooming if your dog has ever bitten or displayed aggression. Failure to disclose this information may result in refusal of further services. Your attention is drawn to the Dangerous Dogs Act, which holds owners liable for bites and injuries caused by their dogs.

YOUR PET’S HEALTH AND WELFARE: Please ensure that your pet has been fed, watered and toileted prior to his grooming appointment. Whilst your pet is in our care, his health and welfare are our primary concern. We will ensure your pet is safe and secure within the van and during the grooming process, and we will use only superior quality products. Your pet will be offered fresh drinking water during his time in the van. If your pet has a coat condition which is being treated by shampoo prescribed by your Vet, we would request that this is provided for us to use during the groom. Your pet will only ever be groomed according to his tolerance of the process. If your pet is fearful of any of the procedures used during grooming, an alternative will be employed where possible. We will not continue a groom on a dog that becomes severely anxious or aggressive.  A proportion of the full grooming fee will be levied if such a situation arises. Occasionally, a pre-existing condition may be discovered during the grooming process which you may not have been aware of. We will notify you of this so that you can seek veterinary advice. Although extremely unlikely, accidents can happen during grooming. In the event of an accident or serious medical issue arising during your pet’s groom, we will seek emergency veterinary treatment as per the authority given by you on the Declaration Form.

POST GROOM: When your pet is returned to you, you will be asked to verify that you are happy with the condition of your pet. If we have noticed anything of concern during the grooming process, we will let you know and, if appropriate, advise you to seek veterinary attention.

Every effort will be made to groom your dog to meet your expectations. It must be made clear, however, that no guarantee can be made in this regard, and we accept no responsibility for the groom being carried out according to instructions, but not to your visual expectations. Records are kept in order to track progress and it may take several grooming sessions for your pet’s coat to grow to a desired style.

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of your pet’s groom, please let us know before we leave. Reasonable requests to alter the trim will be dealt with immediately and if necessary, changes noted for the next groom.  We are happy to show you how to care for your pet’s coat if this is something you need help with.

COSTS: An estimate will be provided at the time of booking and this is subject to assessment of the dog on the day. Some cost adjustment, with the owner’s signed agreement, may be made in respect of the dog’s size, coat condition and the style and time required. All payments must be made on return of your dog. We accept cash and cheques and can take payment through PayPal.

PHOTOGRAPHS: Your pet may be photographed before, during or after his groom. Photographs may be used on the Wagg-On website, Facebook or other printed materials.  Please let us know if you would prefer your pet not to be photographed.

TIME KEEPING:  Wagg-On Dog Grooming is a mobile service and, as such, our routing relies on customer punctuality. We would respectfully ask that you arrange for us to access your pet at the arranged location at the time specified. We offer a reminder service by text/email the day before your appointment. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. We may occasionally get stuck in traffic or be held up at a previous appointment due to unforeseen circumstances. We will always notify you if this happens and give you a revised expected time of arrival.

RETURN: You will be given an estimate of the time the groom will take and we will return your pet to you at this time.  Please resist the temptation to pop out to the Salon to see how he is doing as this may distract your pet and cause him to become agitated and anxious which could become a health and safety risk to both your pet and the Groomer.

CANCELLING YOUR PET’S APPOINTMENT: We understand that it is sometimes necessary to cancel an appointment and would respectfully request a minimum of 24 hours’ notice. Please get in touch as soon as possible if you need to cancel your appointment.

NO-SHOWS AND LATE CANCELLATIONS: If less than 24 hours’ notice is given of a cancellation, 50% of the standard groom price will be charged. Missed appointments will incur a fee of 50% of the standard grooming charge due to the loss of time and travelling costs incurred. A non-refundable deposit of the starting price of the groom will be required to secure a new appointment slot. If you incur any of the above mentioned fees, they are payable in full via PayPal before booking your pet’s next appointment.

NEGLECTED AND MATTED COATS:  In the event of your pet’s coat requiring a clip down to release it from matting or coat neglect, Wagg-On Dog Grooming, owner and staff are not liable for any post-grooming effects of this procedure, which is not without risk. Please refer to our Matted Coat Policy for further information.

Any humane de-matting will be undertaken solely at the Groomer’s discretion, in compliance with The Animal Welfare Act 2006.  De-matting during a routine groom is limited to a maximum of 15 minutes and is only possible if the matting is minimal. For severely matted coats where de-matting is not possible, the only humane way to deal with this will be to completely clip off the coat.

You will be given an estimate of how long matt release is likely to take and an estimated cost for the procedure.  A clip down incurs significantly more time, labour, product and tool/equipment wear and tear than a routine trim and will therefore incur an additional charge.  All clip down costs are payable in full at the time your pet is returned to you.

AGGRESSIVE AND POORLY SOCIALISED DOGS: Wagg-On Dog Grooming  reserves the right to refuse to groom any pet at risk of harming the Groomer or itself. If your dog is accepted for grooming and subsequently displays aggression, the groom will be terminated and the dog will be returned to you immediately.  A proportion of the full grooming fee will be charged if such a situation arises.
